Assemblyman Tri Ta, who represents California’s 70th Assembly District, has recently shared updates and reflections on community events and international issues through his social media accounts.
On December 14, 2025, Ta acknowledged the beginning of Hanukkah in a message to his constituents: “Today marks the first of eight nights of Hanukkah. To everyone celebrating in #AD70 and across California, may the Festival of Lights bring brightness and joy to your celebrations.”
In a post dated December 17, 2025, Ta addressed concerns about a film submitted by the Vietnamese government for Oscar consideration. He wrote: “After the Vietnamese communist government submitted a film that distorted the historical record for Oscar consideration, I wrote to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences urging them to reject this state-sponsored propaganda. Today, I am grateful that the Academy chose”.
That same day, Ta expressed appreciation for community participation at his office’s holiday event: “Thank you to everyone who attended my Annual Christmas Open House. I truly enjoyed connecting with constituents, community leaders, and fellow elected officials as we celebrated the holiday season together. My sincere thanks as well to Thien An Performing Arts for their wonderful”.
Tri Ta serves in an area that is home to significant Vietnamese-American communities and has frequently commented on issues related to Vietnam’s political situation and its diaspora abroad. His recent statements reflect ongoing concerns within these communities about depictions of history by state actors from Vietnam as well as continued engagement with local cultural and religious observances during major holidays.
