Senator Janet Nguyen (R-Huntington Beach) will be hosting a bipartisan press conference today to discuss her animal rights legislative package. The press conference is in preparation for the presentation of her measures, Senate Bill 1478 and Senate Bill 1459, at the Senate Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee.
Joining Senator Nguyen at the press conference will be Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) and Dr. Kate Hurley, Director of the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program.
The legislative package aims to address the treatment of animals at animal shelters. Specifically, Senate Bill 1478 focuses on veterinary medicine, particularly registered veterinary technicians, while Senate Bill 1459 concerns the role of veterinarians in animal shelters.
The press conference will take place at the Capitol steps in Sacramento, California, starting at 9:30 a.m. Visuals at the event will include several four-legged friends.
For those interested in attending the press conference, RSVP is required to either Tori Richards or Jacqui Nguyen.
This event serves as an important platform for Senator Janet Nguyen to advocate for improved animal rights and welfare through legislative action.
