WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Michelle Steel released a statement on Vladimir Putin’s visit to Hanoi to meet with senior Vietnamese leaders following a stop in North Korea.

“By rolling out the red carpet for Vladimir Putin following his atrocities in Ukraine and military agreement with North Korea, the Communist Party of Vietnam is continuing to show their true colors in promoting evil and tyranny. Vietnam’s close partnership with Russia and continuing attacks on human rights make them complicit in threatening the stability of the free world. Their common cause with nations like Russia and North Korea is deeply troubling to those of us who value freedom and democracy, and I will continue to speak out against the threats these nations pose to free people everywhere.”

Rep. Steel represents parts of Los Angeles County and Orange County, including the Little Saigon community, which has the largest population of Vietnamese anywhere outside of Vietnam.
