On behalf of California’s 6.6 million Medicare beneficiaries, Rep. Michelle Steel led every House Republican from California in calling on President Biden to address current Medicare Part D premium increases and work across the aisle as seniors experience rising costs and fewer plan options. Medicare’s upcoming open enrollment period starts on October 15, 2024.

“California seniors have already suffered from massive inflation caused by the Biden Administration’s spending policies. Now those same policies are creating additional turmoil for senior citizens, with a 21.5% premium increase this year and surging costs expected this October,” said Rep. Steel, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee Subcommittee on Health.

Additionally, seniors are currently seeing the fewest number of Medicare drug plans available since the beginning of the Part D program in 2006.

“As we approach the open enrollment period, California Republicans are united in urging President Biden to work in a bipartisan way to ensure our seniors can access more affordable drug plans,” Rep. Steel added.
